Inanimate Object Design

This is Gunther.  He recently came to life when his owner, Walter, dropped him in acid on another planet. Gunther awakens screaming.  He is traumatized as he has just awoken from years of brutally killing people with no choice.  Now that he can express himself he just screams and cries for the horrors he has seen.  Was it his fault? Can he become more than what he was designed to do?
